3C60 Kenevo
Reference number | 3C60 |
Max. user weight | 125kg |
The Kenevo prosthetic knee joint is the first fitting solution with the latest technology that is specifically designed for users with mobility grades 1 and 2. It provides support specifically for frequently recurring everyday situations, while focusing on safety. The Kenevo also grows right on track with the individual abilities of the user, for example during rehabilitation.
The new Kenevo has expanded functionality to simplify and enrich the life of the user. It makes the intuitive assisted descent of ramps and use of an indoor bicycle (bicycle ergometer) possible. Routine tasks such as putting on the prosthesis or charging with a foam cover are now more convenient.

The hydraulic unit is controlled by the microprocessor. It generates movement resistance, allowing adaptation to the individual needs of the user.

In order to withstand the varied demands of everyday life, the frame is made from carbon – an especially strong, high-grade and lightweight material.

Integrated Bluetooth technology permits easy communication with the knee joint. An existing connection is displayed with an LED.

A rechargeable battery provides the energy required to control the joint. The knee angle sensor provides important information to precisely determine the forces acting on the prosthesis.

The inductive battery charger is magnetically attached to the back of the knee joint to make charging convenient.

Sensors in the tube adapter measure the ankle moment and the vertical force acting on the joint. The sensor data help make a natural movement pattern possible. This is a valuable technology for the very first walking attempts after a leg amputation.

A gyroscope and acceleration sensors allow the spatial position and acceleration of the Kenevo to be determined in real time. A microprocessor receives the signals and controls the motion of the joint in real time. This is an important prerequisite for greater safety and for adapting to the skills of the user.

Benefits at a glance

Supported sitting down
As soon as the user starts to sit down, the Kenevo detects this automatically via a patented control process. It adjusts the hydraulic resistance so the knee joint will bend in a controlled manner despite the load. The stance phase bending function provides progressive support, i.e., shock absorption increases concurrently with the load. The user can also sit down with the leg extended; the knee bends in automatically when sitting. And as soon as the user is seated, the Kenevo switches to energy saving mode.

Supported standing up
The Kenevo automatically detects when the user starts to stand up. If the user cannot stand up in a single motion, the Kenevo provides support by locking the joint in the flexion direction (from 45° up to extended prosthesis).

Stance function
The level of safety while standing is consistently high: in activity modes A and B, the knee is locked in the stance phase. The intuitive stance function provides support in activity mode C. With its help, the user can bend the joint slightly while standing. This leads to a more natural posture, and the load is taken off the intact side while the joint is locked in the flexion direction. The Kenevo switches to the set stance phase flexion resistance when the user starts to move.

Enhanced safety
The Kenevo has various safety features.
These include stumble recovery Plus – during the swing phase, the Kenevo detects if the user trips or stumbles and switches immediately to higher flexion resistance than what was set.
A further advantage is real-time gait and motion detection. If the user suddenly interrupts a movement, the Kenevo immediately detects the change and once again switches to higher stance phase flexion resistance.
In addition, there is a safety mode with high damping – the joint switches to this mode to protect against overheating or when the battery is empty, for example.

Indoor bicycle function and Cockpit app
The Kenevo can be configured via the Cockpit app using a smartphone (currently only available in Sweden). This lets the user make a number of settings themselves. The new, intuitive indoor bicycle function can also be switched on via the Cockpit app once it has been activated in the K-Soft software.
The indoor bicycle function works completely intuitively. When the user sits down and beings to make pedaling movements, the Kenevo automatically switches to non-damped mode after a few revolutions. The joint switches back to "normal" activity mode immediately when the user gets off the bicycle ergometer.

Assisted descent of ramps
A new function of the Kenevo provides intuitive support while walking down ramps. Damping increases if the joint detects that the user is moving on a ramp while in activity mode C. This improves stability and can support the user's mobility, both indoors and out.

Wheelchair function
When sitting, the user can lock the Kenevo between 45° flexion and a nearly extended leg. This is especially helpful when sitting in a wheelchair if more room is needed between the prosthesis and the ground. The user activates the function by raising the lower leg to the desired position. It is deactivated with the same motion pattern or with slight pressure on the toes.

Additional benefits in everyday life
The Kenevo can now be charged conveniently without removing the foam cover. This is made possible by a new accessory. In addition, a new donning function makes the prosthesis easier to put on thanks to complete flexion of the knee joint. If the donning function is activated in activity modes A and B, the prosthesis can be easily flexed when the knee joint is not loaded for a few seconds after disconnecting the charger.
